Malaysian wins best webcomic in Eisner Awards

Malaysiakini

Batu Pahat native Erica Eng has bagged an Eisner Award, sometimes referred to as the comics industry's equivalent of the Academy Awards.
The 22-year-old was the youngest Malaysian to have been nominated and won. Her "Fried Rice Comic" came out on top in the best webcomic category, beating out five other nominees.
Eng, in an interview with The Star, said the comic tells the story about a 17-year-old girl who lives in Malaysia and aspires to become an artist and animator.
Like its author, the central character, Min, also hails from Batu Pahat.
