The Finance Ministry has launched the ePENJANA credit programme worth RM750 million, which is one of the initiatives under the Economic Recovery Plan (Penjana), aimed at boosting consumer spending in Malaysia.
Under this programme, each eligible applicant will receive RM50 ePENJANA credits per person beginning tomorrow, Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz said in a statement today.
“Three e-Wallet service providers, namely, Boost, GrabPay and Touch ‘n Go eWallet have been selected for the implementation of this initiative. This programme will be launched in collaboration with the MySejahtera Covid-19 contact tracing app,” he said.
To apply for the credits, he said every applicant is required to download one of the three e-Wallets, as well as download and use the MySejahtera app.
“The initiative is open to Malaysians aged 18 years and above, earning less than RM100,000 annually. Each eligible applicant can claim RM50 ePENJANA credits via one of the selected e-Wallet service providers (Boost, GrabPay or Touch ‘n Go eWallet).
“The eligible applicant will also receive additional matching incentives worth RM50 in the form of cashback, vouchers and/or points throughout the campaign period,” he said.
He said the claim period for the RM50 ePENJANA credits is from July 31 to Sept 24, 2020, while the deadline for spending the ePENJANA credits is on Sept 30, 2020.
“Eligible Malaysians are encouraged to install and update their data in the MySejahtera app, while merchants should contact the participating e-Wallet service providers and obtain the MySejahtera QR code to ensure smooth transactions at their outlets.
“The rakyat are also reminded that for the implementation of ePENJANA, the MOF only recognises the MySejahtera, Boost, GrabPay and Touch ‘n Go eWallet apps. Please ensure that personal data is only shared with official and genuine apps,” he added.
