Sacrifice if you love the Malays, Ku Li tells 'cacat' Zahid and Najib

Malaysiakini

Umno's chief advisor Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah has urged party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and former president Najib Abdul Razak to make way for new blood.
He said this was necessary because of their love for the Malays and Umno.
In an interview with Utusan Malaysia, Tengku Razaleigh said this "sacrifice" was necessary because they were seen as cacat (defective) in the eyes of the public.
"I don't know whether (they) will defend their seats. They need to sacrifice if they love the Malays.
"We must prioritise the needs of the party. If not, Umno won't go anywhere. Sacrifice is important. Our religion and society require it.
"(The only have to sacrifice) for a short while. One term. Five years," he said.
Zahid, 66, is facing trial over money laundering and criminal breach of trust involving funds for a charitable group known as Yayasan Akalbudi.
Najib is facing several money-laundering trials related to 1MDB and its former subsidiary SRC International. He is also facing trial for tampering with an audit report on 1MDB.
Additionally, he is being pursued by the Inland Revenue Board for RM1.6 billion in outstanding taxes.
Tengku Razaleigh's comments appear to be related to speculation that fresh elections will have to be called soon because Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin only has a slim majority in Parliament. - Mkini
