Fahmi Fadzil, office staff ordered to undergo quarantine

COVID-19| PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil is the latest politician to be placed under quarantine order after having close contact with a Covid-19 positive individual.

According to the Lembah Pantai MP's Facebook post this morning, the positive case is his staff who returned from Sabah five days ago.

"Following the SOP and order received from the Health Ministry and Lembah Pantai Health Clinic, and considering that the staff is our close contact, this morning all my staff and I had gone to the Tanglin Clinic to get tested for Covid-19.

"We will undergo quarantine at home accordingly as ordered by the Lembah Pantai Health Clinic," he said.

According to Fahmi, his office would be closed to public until the end of their home quarantine order.

A decontamination team would also be sent to the office for sanitising works.

"As for the time being, Lembah Pantai folks who wish to contact our office can do so through the Facebook page email.

"The inconvenience caused is regretted. Please pray for our safety and that we are safe from the Covid-19 pandemic."

Prior to this, two politicians who were involved in the recently concluded Sabah state election were tested positive with the virus. This includes Umno information chief Shahril Hamdan.

The positive cases involving political figures have led to more politicians, including top party leaders who have been in close contact with Covid-19 positive individuals, being ordered to get themselves tested and quarantined.

Among them are Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and several candidates who were running in the Sabah state election.

Meanwhile, an Amanah member who was involved in the Sabah state election campaign has also been tested positive with the coronavirus.

According to The Star Online, this had prompted the party to urge all its members who took part in the election works there to get themselves tested.

"All individuals who have just arrived from Sabah are required to undergo preliminary tests, abide by the home surveillance order (HSO) rules and wear quarantine bands.

"If test results are negative, they must continue with HSO rules and undergo the test again if symptoms of the infection turn up," said Amanah secretary-general Hatta Ramli, as quoted by The Star. - Mkini
