Market, night market activities in Jerantut postponed for 14 days

COVID-19 | All night market and market activities, as well as large-scale events, including feasts, in Jerantut, have been postponed for 14 days starting today, as a measure to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Jerantut Disaster Management Committee in a statement said all leisure and recreation centres that could not guarantee physical distancing were not allowed to operate during that period.

This includes hiking activities at Bukit Seladang, Bukit Panau and Bukit Merah as well as Taman Tasik Teratai and Via-Ferratta Paya Gunung which are famous for rock climbing activities.

"This action is taken following the detection of four new positive cases on Sept 25 and 27 in the district.

"Masjid Tengku Ahmad Jerantut and Surau Al-Muflihin at the low-cost public housing (PAKR) Level 3 and 4 as well as kindergartens and nurseries at the same PAKR as well as PAKR Bandar Baru Jerantut are also ordered to close for 14 days," according to the statement.

It added that all food premises at PAKR Bandar Baru Jerantut as well as PAKR 3 and 4 could only serve takeout food for now.

Apart from that, the briefing on the Population and Housing Census 2020 scheduled for five days beginning this Thursday (Oct 1) has also been postponed.

Residents could contact the Disaster Operations Control Centre at 09-2661641 or Operations Room of the District Health Office at 09-2662744 for enquiries.
