Girl, 8, flung out of MPV, falls 15 metres, but escapes with fractured thigh

The girl was flung out of her father’s MPV and fell from a height of 15m on a car parked in a showroom.

KUALA LUMPUR: An eight-year-old girl was flung out of a vehicle along the Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE) and fell from a height of about 15m onto a car parked at an auto showroom at Jalan Pahang – but escaped with a fractured left thigh.

A video of the incident, which occurred at about 5.40pm on Saturday, has since gone viral on social media.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department head Zulkefly Yahya said the girl was travelling in an MPV with her 41-year-old father when he was believed to have lost control of the wheel, causing the vehicle to skid and ram into the road barrier.

The impact was believed to have thrown the girl, who was on the rear seat, out of the vehicle.

The girl was flung out through the windscreen and over the road barrier before landing on a car parked at an auto showroom below the DUKE flyover at Jalan Pahang, he said.

He said the girl was undergoing treatment at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital but her father was not injured. - FMT
