Covid-19: Two more students test positive in Sabah, linked to new cluster

KOTA KINABALU: Two more students have tested positive for Covid-19 in Sabah.

These two cases are part of a new cluster, the Jalan Labuk Sandakan cluster, detected on Saturday (Jan 30).

Prior to this, 10 students and four teachers tested positive for Covid-19 between Jan 20-26.

Minister in charge of Covid-19 matters in Sabah, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said 263 new cases were reported on Saturday, including the two students.

"The two students were part of the close contact tracing of students tested prior to returning to hostels on Jan 22," he said.

He also said two deaths were recorded, one in Kudat and the other in Sandakan.

Meanwhile, Masidi said the standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance rate in Sabah was about 93%.

"However, from the roadblocks manned over the weekend, it was found that many road users had misused inter-district travel forms, resulting in heavy traffic over the weekend," he said.

He warned the public to abide by SOP or risk a fine of RM1,000. - Star
