Quake strikes Sulawesi Sea, felt in Tawau

KUALA LUMPUR: A weak earthquake, measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale, was detected in the Sulawesi Sea at 1.42am today.

In a statement, The Malaysian Meteorology Department (MetMalaysia) said the tremor could possibly be felt in Tawau, Sabah.

The epicentre of the quake was 197 kilometres south of Semporna and at a depth of 141 kilometres.

MetMalaysia will continue to monitor the situation. - BERNAMA
