ALOR SETAR: Kedah Mentri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, state Health Committee chairman Datuk Dr Mohd Hayati Othman and Kedah Health director Dr Mohd Fikri Ujang received their Pfizer-BionNTech Covid-19 vaccine jabs at Wisma Darul Aman here on Sunday (Feb 28) afternoon.

The inoculations were done in the foyer of Block E in Wisma Darul Aman.

Sanusi, 48, was the first non-medical personnel in the state to receive the Covid-19 vaccination here at 5.05pm followed shortly after by Dr Hayati and Dr Fikri.

Also getting their jabs on Sunday were three medical officers from the district Health Departments - Abdul Rahim Zakaria, Muhammad Hafiz Ibrahim and M. Shaarvin Raj.

A total of 1.76 million Kedah residents, amounting to about 80% of the state's population, including non-citizens, are expected to undergo vaccination in stages from Sunday until February 2022.

Sanusi received his vaccination from Assistant Medical Officer Haidar Fikri Rusli Nazir who was supervised by Dr Sharul Rizan Ilias, a public health specialist, from the Kota Setar District Health Department.

"I didn't feel any pain. It just felt like a bite from a small ant.

“I also didn't encounter any dizziness after the jab or any other effects.

"I urge the rakyat to have a positive attitude to the inoculation process and be ready to take the vaccine, ” he said.

Sanusi also urged those who were 18 years old and above to register for the vaccination through the MySejahtera app.

"Kedah has been allocated 50,310 doses of the vaccine under the first phase for 25,155 frontliners in the first phase," he added. - Star
