Cops to question Ambiga, 3 MPs over Undi18 protest Friday

Police will be calling in at least three lawmakers and one activist this Friday over the Undi18 protest outside Parliament during the weekend.

Simpang Renggam MP Maszlee Malik and veteran activist Ambiga Sreenevasan (above) confirmed with Malaysiakini that they will be questioned at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters on Friday at 2.30pm.

Petaling Jaya MP Maria Chin Abdullah and Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh also tweeted that they had been called in for questioning on the same day.

Yesterday, police questioned eight politicians over the same matter.

Last Saturday, over 100 people gathered outside Parliament to demand the government honour its promise to lower the voting age to 18 years as well as to implement automatic voter registration by July this year.

The protest followed the announcement by the Election Commission that the process would be delayed until September next year.

The 15th general election is widely speculated to be called in August this year when the emergency proclamation expires. - Mkini
