Now, you can volunteer to get AstraZeneca jabs

Residents of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur can volunteer to be inoculated with the AstraZeneca vaccine now, to allay public concerns. (Bernama pic)

PETALING JAYA: The AstraZeneca vaccine will now only be administered on a voluntary first come, first served basis and will not be used in the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

Science, technology and innovation minister Khairy Jamaluddin said a special vaccination centre will be set up to administer the vaccine and will, for now, only be for residents in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.

The decision comes in light of public concern regarding the use of the vaccine in Phase 2 of the programme following cases of thrombosis among recipients in European countries, some of which have put the vaccine on hold. - FMT
