Cops probe officer for sending unsolicited texts to woman

Police are investigating one of their own for sending unsolicited WhatsApp messages to a woman.

This came after the woman posted a screenshot of the texts on Twitter, which then went viral.

The woman tweeted that she had gone to a police station to request permission for interstate travel, and had dealt with a female officer.

She believed the suspect who harassed her had sat next to the officer processing her application.

The woman, who is married, lodged a police report over the matter last night.

Dang Wangi police chief Ashari Abu Samah said the officer involved was identified prior to the police report, and they will not hesitate to take action.

"Police will not protect any officer who commits an offence and will not hesitate to take stern action on those found guilty," he said in a statement yesterday.

He added that the matter was being investigated by the Kuala Lumpur police Integrity and Standard Compliance Department.  - Mkini
