Police to call up schoolgirls in beating-up of 12-year-old

Police are to interview schoolgirls after a video clip was circulated showing an assault in a staircase in Kelana jaya.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have identified the girls involved in a video clip showing a 12-year-old girl being beaten up by her schoolmate in an apartment building staircase recently.

Petaling Jaya district police chief Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said all the girls would be called to have their statement recorded.

He said the 12-year-old suffered injuries on her head and body after being assaulted by her schoolmate in Kelana Jaya.

“The complainant lodged a police report at 9.26pm yesterday, claiming that her schoolmate had assaulted her in a fit of jealousy, upon learning about her relationship with the girl’s foster brother,” he said in a statement.

“Preliminary investigations found that one of the assailant’s friends recorded the incident and shared it on several social media platforms.”

Fakhrudin  advised the public against circulating the video of the incident.
