COVID-19 | The number of Covid-19 infections today hit a new record high of 17,786 with signs that the virus is starting to also spread aggressively beyond the Klang Valley.
There were also 165 deaths pushing the death toll past the 9,000 mark.
The number of active cases is also nearing 190,000.

- Patients in ICU: 1,062
- Intubated: 534
New cases by states
A total of four states and a federal territory recorded fresh infections in the four digits - a trend that in the past was mostly seen in the Klang Valley.
Apart from Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, the states seeing more than 1,000 cases include Kedah, Johor and Sabah.
Negeri Sembilan, which is also near that threshold, recorded 929 cases.
The new infections in Kedah (1,389), Terengganu (883) and Pahang (653) today are all record highs.

The fatalities were reported in Selangor (54), Johor (30), Negeri Sembilan (23), Kedah (18), Kuala Lumpur (9), Sabah (9), Penang (7), Malacca (4), Perak (3), Terengganu (3), Sarawak (3), Pahang (2), Kelantan (1), and Perlis (1).
