Simpler SOPs in the pipeline, says Khairy

PUTRAJAYA: As part of accepting that the Covid-19 virus is now endemic, health minister Khairy Jamaluddin says Putrajaya will be making SOPs simpler in the near future.

In a press conference today, Khairy said the nation needed to be prepared to continue living with the virus, even if the country manages to be successful in controlling the pandemic.

“The government will announce a few steps to make SOPs more streamlined and convenient, so that it is not too complicated.

“As preparations to live with the Covid-19 virus in the endemic phase, we must practise the new normal with simpler SOPs,” he said.

Along with the simplified SOPs and vaccinations, he said behavioural changes would be needed in order for more of the country to be able to open up and for some level of normalcy to be restored.

Some of the steps that need to be taken include maintaining personal hygiene, consistent mask wearing in public, and avoiding confined or crowded spaces.

He also urged the public to be responsible and quarantine at home if they’ve been identified as a casual contact, a suspected or confirmed case or if they have been issued a surveillance order.

People should also remain at home if they are awaiting the results of a Covid-19 test.

Khairy encouraged people to take care of their friends’ well-being when they are under quarantine, and use digital means to check up on them and stay connected. - FMT
