Melaka May Be The End Of PAS

Both Umno and Bersatu are weak in Melaka. So, PAS will be choosing between one weak partner and another even weaker partner. The only workable formula is an Umno-PAS-Bersatu electoral pact. Short of this, all three are going to get wiped out by Pakatan Harapan.

PAS is about to make a decision that may determine if Melaka is going to be PAS’s Waterloo. The decision PAS makes whether to work with Umno or to work with Bersatu will determine whether PAS will go back to being a regional party or it will remain a national party.

PAS is divided between the pro-Umno and the pro-Bersatu factions. If Umno agrees to an Umno-PAS-Bersatu electoral pact for the Melaka state election, then no more problems, everything solved.

However, if Umno is adamant regarding no deal with Bersatu, and if PAS is given the ultimatum to choose between Umno and Bersatu, then PAS is going to be stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Perikatan Nasional’s candidate in the Melaka state election

Both Umno and Bersatu are weak in Melaka. So, PAS will be choosing between one weak partner and another even weaker partner. The only workable formula is an Umno-PAS-Bersatu electoral pact. Short of this, all three are going to get wiped out by Pakatan Harapan.

Pakatan Harapan is clear about the 28 state seats and how DAP, PKR and Amanah will share out those seats and where they are going to be. Umno, PAS and Bersatu cannot even agree yet on whether there is a pakatan or not.

The Umno-Bersatu conflict of vanity and egoes is not only affecting the pact but is splitting up PAS as well. Not only will the Umno-PAS-Bersatu electoral pact turn to dust, but PAS, for the fourth time in its history since 1951, may see another split (after the 1977 Berjasa, 1983 Hamim and 2015 Amanah splits earlier).

No wonder the Malays lost Melaka to the Portuguese in 1511.  It is in the Malay DNA to self-destruct.  Maybe it is good if Pakatan Harapan wins the Melaka state election. Malays do not deserve political power. That’s like bagi bunga kepada monyet.
