Power outage at Penang Bridge toll plaza causes snarl

 

The traffic snarl near the Penang Bridge toll plaza for vehicles heading towards the island. Motorists have been advised to use the second bridge.

GEORGE TOWN: A power outage at the Penang Bridge toll plaza is causing a several kilometre traffic snarl up to the Perai industrial area exit.

Bridge operator Plus said the power went out at 9pm and it was beyond its control.

A spokesman told FMT that a handheld device connected to mobile internet is being used to read toll cards in the meantime.

The spokesman said a full statement on the issue will be released later.

In the meantime, motorists entering the island are advised to take the second bridge. - FMT
