Sabah agency head nabbed for paying himself RM8,000

 

The suspect is alleged to have approved payment vouchers for his own work.

KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Sabah has arrested a general manager of a state government agency on suspicion of accepting bribes amounting to about RM8,000.

The man in his 40s was arrested by the Tawau branch of the MACC at about 9am today.

Sources said the suspect was believed to have used his position to approve payment vouchers in 2018 for work done by the suspect himself.

It is understood that the suspect was released on MACC bail of RM10,000.

Sabah MACC director S Karunanithy confirmed the arrest. He will be charged at the sessions court in Tawau on Dec 3. - FMT
