KUALA LUMPUR: Police detained a woman today to assist in investigations over a video that went viral on social media showing three children behaving dangerously in a moving vehicle.
Kajang district police chief Mohd Zaid Hassan said the 34-year-old woman, believed to be the driver of a Perodua Alza, had three children in the car who were seen perched on the windows.
The act was dangerous and could lead to accidents, endanger the children’s safety as well as the safety of other road users, Zaid said in a statement.
He also urged the public to ensure children’s safety, adding that they should be monitored by adults.
Zaid said the case was being investigated under Section 336 of the Penal Code, for endangering the lives or safety of others. Offenders can be sentenced to a maximum of three months in jail or RM500 fine or both.
He also urged the public with information on the incident to contact the investigating officer Ahmad Rahmat Adnan at 014-515-6933 or the nearest police station. - FMT
