Rising water levels reported in parts of Shah Alam

Media Selangor, the official media of the Selangor state government, has reported rising water levels in several areas in Shah Alam this morning.

"The water level in the TTDI Jaya area and Section 13 Stadium, Bukit Jelutong Shah Alam Toll increased at 7 this morning.

"Apart from that, the water level also rose on the Lanchong Jaya route and Section 28 near the Hero Supermarket," said Media Selangor on its Facebook page.

It also attached a few photographs showing flooded roads in the area.

The massive floods that hit the country on Saturday have claimed 27 lives so far, the highest death toll since the last major floods in 2014.

Twenty of the fatalities were reported in Selangor and seven in Pahang. Nine bodies were found in Seksyen 25 Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam alone.

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob yesterday admitted there were weaknesses in flood management, especially in Selangor, but assured that they will be improved from time to time.

He said the responsibility of managing floods was not that of the federal government alone, as the state governments and relevant authorities at the districts also play an important role.
