Umno leader challenges PN to put Muhyiddin as poster boy in Johor

An Umno leader has challenged Perikatan Nasional to put its chairperson and former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin as their 'poster boy' in the upcoming Johor state election.

Umno Supreme Council member Mohd Puad Zarkashi claimed that the Bersatu-led coalition depends on Muhyiddin for its political survival.

"I want to challenge Muhyiddin to again be the Bersatu's poster boy for the Johor election. And please use the same slogan they used in Malacca, say that 'Abah Sayang Johor' (Abah loves Johor).

"During the first six months of his term as the eighth prime minister, Muhyiddin and his lackeys claimed that he was the most popular prime minister in the country.

"But then he lost his position only 17 months into the job. He is a failure," Puad said in a Facebook post today.

During the Malacca state election in November last year, PN put Muhyiddin, who is Bersatu president, as its poster boy along with their 'Abah Sayang Melaka' slogan.

'Abah' means father or dad in Malay and is a term that had been widely propagated by PN to refer to Muhyiddin.

PN only won two seats in the Malacca state election, namely the Sungai Udang and Bemban state legislative seats.

The relationship between PN and Umno-led BN had turned sour after Bersatu allegedly betrayed Umno in the Sabah state election.

Meanwhile, Puad also criticised Muhyiddin, who he said had no shame for setting up Bersatu and tried to "kill" Umno.

"Bersatu's lifeline depends on Muhyiddin. Bersatu exists only because of Muhyiddin. Johor state election will be the battlefield to determine whether Bersatu will survive or not. It is a huge burden to Muhyiddin.

"I hope 'abahku' will not regret setting up Bersatu and trying to kill Umno. He should be ashamed for losing to Umno grassroots who have always been loyal to Umno," he said. - Mkini
