Ahmad Maslan: What does Bersatu mean by 'conditional support'?

Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan wants Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan to clarify what Bersatu meant by its "conditional support" for the government.

Criticising Bersatu over the statement, Ahmad (above) reportedly said that such remarks do not bring any good to the rakyat and only serves to defend their party's position.

"The rakyat does not understand what are these conditions that they (Bersatu) mentioned, I also do not know... So I want to ask Wan Saiful what do they mean with conditional support?

"Please make clear whether this is a threat to the prime minister and the administration.

"These people may have their own interests to keep holding ministerial posts in the Keluarga Malaysia government, right? It serves their interest to continue having their positions. So with PAS and Bersatu, maybe that is one of the conditions," he said, as reported by Umno's official website Umno Online this morning.

According to the portal, Ahmad spoke about the matter when met at a BN event in Tebrau.

Last week, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin and PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang in a joint press conference sought to imply that their support for the Umno-led federal government is conditional.

Yesterday, Wan Saiful reminded Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob that he was in the top executive post because he was nominated by Bersatu instead of his own party Umno. - Mkini
