Covid-19 deaths (Feb 4): 8 reported fatalities, total at 32,000

 


COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported eight new Covid-19 fatalities yesterday (Feb 3), bringing the cumulative death toll to 32,000.

These deaths were reported in Perak (3), Johor (1), Kelantan (1) and Pahang (1).

Malaysia has the highest number of deaths per capita in the Asean and East Asian regions with 969 deaths per 1 million population, and fourth-worst in Asia after Iran, Lebanon and Jordan – all in the Middle East.


An average of 14 Covid-19 deaths were reported daily in the last 30 days compared to the seven-day average of 9, indicating a downtrend.

As of yesterday, there were 61,426 active Covid-19 cases. This is an increase of 28.5 percent from the 47,805 active infections a week ago.

Compared to 30 days ago, the number of active cases has increased by 54.8 percent from 39,682.
