In veiled swipe at Zahid, PAS Youth hits back at 'sorcerer'

PAS Youth today came forward to defend the party's president, Abdul Hadi Awang from criticism from Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Its leader, Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, said that his party took the approach of not retaliating when the leaders of the two parties were in conflict with each other, but could not be silent when Abdul Hadi was insulted by Ahmad Zahid.

"When our president responded to the allusion of an Umno veteran who described PAS as trying to teach ducks to swim, he simply responded –that we were helping 'lame ducks'– Zahid was so angry that he suggested our president be a better zoologist.

"Is Datuk Seri actually someone whose specialization is a curse to change their colours as fast as lightning after having being a loyal student of the 'teacher' ?" Fadhli asked on Facebook today.

"Is he a sorcerer who is momentarily ill in court then healthy soon after?" said Fahdli in an apparent reference to Zahid taking ill during his corruption trial.

"Students loyal to the teacher" is believed to refer to the alleged recording of a conversation between Zahid (above) and PKR President Anwar Ibrahim that was leaked in April 2021, in which Zahid allegedly described Anwar as his teacher.

Zahid has however vehemently denied he was the person heard in the footage.

Although Fadhli did not specifically mention Zahid's name, the statement was clearly addressed to the latter, who carries the title Datuk Seri, following the statement he made last Friday.

Zahid in his speech at the launch of the BN machinery in Iskandar Puteri, Johor said that Umno were not animals as mentioned by Abdul Hadi recently.

"I followed a lot of the interviews and a lot of the leader's speeches. A lot of animal -related allusions (were used).

"I think it's good that he changed his profession from politician to zoologist," he said cynically.

This was in response to Abdul Hadi's statement on January 28 which described Umno as a duck with a broken leg and now trying to 'swim' alone after recovering with their help.

Cooperate with Bersatu

He said this when commenting on Umno's decision to cooperate with Bersatu and the difficult path of Muafakat Nasional which was pioneered after the last general election.

Commenting further, Fadhli said he wondered why there were still people who believed the speech of the "Datuk Seri" which according to him clearly only enslaved the listeners.

At the same time, he reminded those in Umno who are still committed to the unification of the two right-wing parties not to give up.

"Hopefully, there will be light at the end of the tunnel," he added. - Mkini
