Nine Malaysians and their dependents who were stranded in Kiev now safe in Poland, says Saifuddin

 

PETALING JAYA: The nine Malaysians and their dependents who were stranded in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev have arrived safely in Poland, says Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah.

“Alhamdulillah, the convoy that evacuated 9 Malaysians & 2 of their dependents as well as a Singaporean from Kyiv led by the Interim Authority @MYEmbKyiv Ms. Fadhilah David has safely arrived in Korczowa-Krakovets, Ukraine's border with Poland,” the Foreign Minister posted in a tweet on Sunday (Feb 27).

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob had said on Saturday that the Malaysian Embassy in Kiev was in the process of evacuating Malaysians and their dependents from Ukraine

Ismail Sabri said 13 Malaysians had already left Ukraine in the past weeks.

“Malaysia is seriously concerned over the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine,” Ismail Sabri said in a statement.

On Feb 24, Ukrainian forces battled Russian invaders after Moscow mounted an assault by land, sea and air in the biggest attack on a European state since World War Two.
