Seventh custody death, this time in Klang lock-up

 

Bukit Aman’s integrity and standards compliance department said it would investigate the death of the 35-year-old man.

PETALING JAYA: A 35-year-old man detained for drug possession at a police station in Klang was found dead yesterday morning.

Bukit Aman integrity and standards compliance department director Azri Ahmad said the man was found unconscious at 6.50am at the Pandamaran police station and was declared dead at 7.30am.

He said the cause of death was yet to be ascertained.

“The suspect was on a three-day remand to be investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. He was initially arrested on Feb 1. We will investigate the death,” Azri said in a statement.

This was the seventh death reported by Bukit Aman this year, with the latest being yesterday, involving a 38-year-old detainee in a drug use case at a prison in Kuantan. - FMT
