PETALING JAYA: A resident at Taman Jasa Utama, Batu Caves in Gombak has appealed to Air Selangor to restore the neighbourhood’s water supply after suffering for four days without any water.
Henry Muthu, a resident at Taman Jasa Utama for 32 years, questioned Air Selangor’s delay as the neighbourhood’s water supply was supposed to have been restored on Tuesday at 3pm.
“I don’t know what is happening. The whole neighbourhood has no water.
“I have children and elderly parents. We are currently relying on water bottles and it is not cheap to buy so many of them. At the same time, the (99) Speedmart in our neighbourhood has run out of water.
“I managed to get a reply from Air Selangor around 5.30pm today and they said water will be restored by 6pm. It’s now 6.30pm and there’s still no water,” he told FMT.
Henry said the water trucks provided by Air Selangor were not helpful as they only arrived this morning at around 2.30am, three days late.
“Also, the trucks arrived so early in the morning. How many people are awake at that time to collect water. What is the logic in that?” he asked.
Henry hoped that Air Selangor will rectify this issue immediately and asked for more water tankers to alleviate the residents’ troubles for now.
According to a statement by Air Selangor today, it said water supply around the Gombak area has been fully restored after repair work of a leaking valve at Warta Lama, Jalan Kuching around 2am this morning.
Air Selangor said the water supply will be channelled in stages and it is expected that the recovery time will vary according to location and distance.
