PETALING JAYA: In a squabble over who raised more funds for a Chinese primary school in Johor, MCA president Wee Ka Siong has challenged DAP leader Lim Guan Eng “to be a man” by debating him on allegations that Wee had not played any role in the construction of the school.
Wee said he was determined to prove Lim wrong over the latter’s claim that MCA did little to raise funds for Chinese schools, according to media reports.
Wee said he took the allegation seriously and wanted to teach the DAP secretary-general “a lesson” and “knock him out within 20 minutes”.
Wee said he would willingly pay RM4,500 to rent the Johor Baru Tiong Hua Federation Hall for a debate on Sunday, before Lim steps down from his post as DAP secretary-general, Malay Mail reported.
The NST reported that Lim had allegedly claimed that Wee had not contributed as much as he did towards the construction of Kuek Ho Yao primary school in Seri Austin, Johor Bahru
Prior to this, Wee had challenged former deputy education minister Teo Nie Ching to a debate on Chinese education, which the latter accepted.
The MCA is contesting 15 seats in the Johor state elections on March 12. The party, a member of Barisan Nasional, did not secure any state assembly seat in the 2018 general election. - FMT
