PETALING JAYA: AirAsia X Bhd group chief executive officer Nadda Buranasiri has resigned, the company said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday.

The long-haul airline stated that it follows his resignation as the CEO of Thai AirAsia X Co Ltd.

Nadda, 59, who is a Thai national, was appointed CEO of Thai AirAsia X in 2014, and subsequently promoted to AirAsiaX group CEO on Nov 1, 2018.

On March 16, AirAsia X said it had completed its debt restructuring and will write RM33 billion back to profits in the next quarter, Reuters reported.

Under the airline’s restructuring proposal, it would pay just 0.5% of debt owed and end its existing contracts.

The plan was approved by its creditors and the High Court last year.

The restructuring was proposed to avoid liquidation after the long-haul low-cost airline posted a record quarterly loss last September. - FMT
