Ku Li’s ‘bipartisan’ group open to all, says aide

Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah’s aide says the Angkatan Amanah Merdeka Rakyat Kelantan group would not be a coalition of parties but a movement.

PETALING JAYA: Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah’s bipartisan group in Kelantan will not only involve political parties but NGOs as well, his aide said today.

Nik Ahmad Azmi said the group would be “open to everyone” and that it was not a coalition of parties but a movement.

“The people of Kelantan are done with PAS but need a credible leader. Tengku Razaleigh has offered himself to lead,” he told FMT.

He said the formation of the group was still in its preliminary stages and that further progress would be made after Hari Raya Puasa.

Nik Ahmad said the group, called Angkatan Amanah Merdeka Rakyat Kelantan, had nothing to do with the political party Amanah and it was purely a coincidence they shared the name.

Earlier today, Kelantan Amanah deputy chairman Che Ibrahim Mohamed revealed that Tengku Razaleigh, who is better known as Ku Li, would lead a bipartisan group in the state.

In a Facebook post, Che Ibrahim congratulated Tengku Razaleigh, adding that the group was ready to join forces and give full cooperation to bring change to the people of Kelantan.

Che Ibrahim revealed that the group’s first programme would take place on May 7. - FMT
