Noh Omar gets a library named after him

The Tan Sri Noh Omar library, which was previously known as the Institut Koperasi Malaysia library (IKMa), and established over 30 years ago, now has a fresh look featuring a more conducive environment with a digital approach.

Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative Minister Noh Omar said the library was named after him following today’s launch, adding that the library follows the Library Congress Classification standard to manage and record all collection materials.

He added that the library was set up to support the training needs and courses conducted by IKMa, which has more than 30,000 collections of monographs such as books, magazines, and annual reports specialising in entrepreneurship and cooperative operations.

“The collections of library materials are also updated and added every year to strengthen its function as a reference centre for cooperative resources nationwide, including in physical and digital forms,” he told reporters after launching the library in Petaling Jaya today.

Noh also handed over the letter of approval for the establishment of Universiti Keusahawan Malaysia (UKKM) to the IKMa board chairperson, Rosli Mat Hassan.

Asked about UKKM, he said the ministry was still in the process of finalising several matters regarding its establishment.

“We are still identifying eligible professors to teach 15 fields related to entrepreneurship and cooperatives. We have identified a building in Cyberjaya, and UKKM will start their operations there,” he added.

Noh was reported as saying that UKKM is expected to start operating this September in Cyberjaya, involving about 500 to 1,000 students.
