PKR polls: Doctor defeats Hulu Selangor MP for branch head post

 


The preliminary results of the PKR party polls saw Hulu Selangor MP June Leow Hsiad Hui losing to medical doctor Dr Sathia Prakash Nadarajan for the post of branch head.

Leow was the incumbent branch chief for two terms and earned 1,803 votes while Prakash (above) received 1,903, winning by a slim 100 votes.

Meanwhile, another branch chief contender, Azizan Zakaria, only received 161 votes.

The results have been posted on the party’s website.

In Kuala Selangor, former national youth deputy chief Thiban Subramaniam was elected as the new branch chief. Thiban defeated the political secretary to the Selangor menteri besar, Juwairiya Zulkifli, in a four-cornered fight.

Thiban received 719 votes as opposed to incumbent Juwairiya, who only received 681 votes. 

Two other branch chief candidates, Wasanthee Sinnasamy and Gobu Nadarajah, had received 646 and 537 votes respectively.

In Kota Raja, former PKR veep Xavier Jayakumar’s daughter Sangetha Jayakumar lost in her bid to become branch head - which was won by Sentosa assemblyperson Gunarajah George.

Gunarajah won 2,709 votes, compared to the 1,691 votes won by Sangetha, a difference of 1,018 votes. - Mkini
