BN can return original Malaysia, 'new Malaysia' a rhetoric - Zahid

BN will return Malaysia to what it once was, replacing the “new Malaysia” rhetoric introduced by Pakatan Harapan which failed, said BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today.

In his keynote speech at the BN Convention this evening, Zahid (above) said while Harapan offered a “new Malaysia”, it undid tolerance between the races and attempted to rip apart the nature of bumiputera Malay Muslims.

"The 'new Malaysia' approach to creating equality and replacing the principle of balance conceived by BN has widened the gap to the extent of causing anger and increasing prejudice to the point of threatening harmony.

“And the formula of the new Malaysia, that supposedly wants to be proven through good governance and transparency was just exaggerated.

“The power that was mandated by the people was fully exploited, to kill political opponents, trying to erase legacies, including manipulating institutions that are pillars of the rule of law.

“In this regard, what we have been through in the past four years only convinces us that only BN can create stability. We must return to the original Malaysia and not the new Malaysia that has clearly failed,” he said during his speech.

The ‘new Malaysia’ slogan used by Harapan referred to rebuilding the country they alleged was damaged by BN.

In his speech, Zahid provided five steps for BN to meet the aspirations of the people.

“In an effort to restore the original Malaysia, BN needs to make a paradigm shift via an internal refinement process that will get the rakyat to provide their support again.

“Being the government does not mean turning the country’s institutions into tools.

“On the contrary, a BN government is progressive, increases the country’s capacity, creates a prosperous economy across all races, creates opportunities for the Malaysian youth to expand their efforts and build their capacity to make them more competitive,” he said. - Mkini
