Covid-19 (June 27): 1,894 new cases, 8 deaths

 


COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 1,894 new daily Covid-19 cases yesterday.

Active cases currently stood at 28,093, up 22.4 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Selangor (615)
Kuala Lumpur (450)
Penang (169)
Negeri Sembilan (124)
Sabah (123)
Perak (104)
Johor (72)
Malacca (56)
Kedah (49)
Sarawak (34)
Pahang (30)
Terengganu (30)
Kelantan (22)
Perlis (11)
Putrajaya (4)
Labuan (1)


Another eight deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which one case was declared as "brought in dead".

These deaths were reported in Johor (3), Kedah (1), Negeri Sembilan (1), Perak (1), Penang (1) and Selangor (1).

Over the past week, an average of 2.7 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 3.1, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the downtrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 35,754 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There have been 78 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 129 deaths last month and 564 deaths in April.

Hospitalised Covid-19 patients have been trending up steadily this month from a recent low of 904 on June 5 to 1,150 as of yesterday.

The number of hospitalised Covid-19 patients is at a level not seen since May 19.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (128) followed by Johor (112) and Sabah (73).

There are 34 Covid-19 patients in intensive care. - Mkini
