Now, Mohamaddin Ketapi quits Bersatu

PETALING JAYA: Lahad Datu MP Mohamaddin Ketapi has quit Bersatu less than a year after joining the Muhyiddin Yassin-led party.

Mohamaddin, formerly of Warisan, said he will be an independent MP backing the current federal and Sabah state governments.

The former tourism minister, who is also the assemblyman for Segama, had quit Warisan last October and joined Bersatu on Nov 26.

At a press conference, Mohamaddin said he was quitting Bersatu as he did not get the role he was promised previously – to lead the party in the Lahad Datu and Segama constituencies.

He claimed that he and his supporters had been sidelined by the party machinery in these areas, with Bersatu conducting activities without his knowledge.

“From earlier on, my supporters were interested in joining Bersatu through these divisions, but they were rejected,” he said.

Sarcastically, Mohamaddin “congratulated” Lahad Datu Bersatu chief Japlin Akim for “acting as if he was the Lahad Datu MP and Segama assemblyman”. - FMT
