Zahid wants Muhyiddin's 'recovery council' scrapped

The National Recovery Council (NRC) led by Muhyiddin Yassin was no longer relevant now that Putrajaya has formed the Inflation Jihad Task Force, said Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Moreover, said Zahid (above, left), the NRC had not shown results and was established only as a platform for Muhyiddin.

“The NRC was only given to Muhyiddin to boost his image and his party... The NRC has failed. It is time to abolish this council and free up government officials from attending NRC meetings that are ineffective.

“I advise Muhyiddin to use other platforms to contribute ideas as a former prime minister, such as through the Perdana Leadership Foundation alongside Dr Mahathir Mohamad,” said Zahid.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the formation of the Inflation Jihad Task Force led by Communications and Multimedia Minister Annuar Musa.

Other members are Finance Minister Zafrul Abdul Aziz, Agriculture and Food Industries Minister Ronald Kiandee, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Economy) Mustapa Mohamed and chief secretary to the government Mohd Zuki Ali.

Ismail Sabri said the task force’s function is to coordinate efforts to address inflation and control the price of goods efficiently.

This task force will meet twice weekly on Monday and Thursday. He promised press conferences after such meetings. - Mkini
