Pasir Gudang Amanah rejects ex-Permas rep who left Bersatu

Amanah’s Pasir Gudang division has unanimously rejected the membership application from former Permas assemblyperson Che Zakaria Mohd Salleh.

Che Zakaria, who recently announced his departure from Bersatu, handed his registration form to Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub at the party’s Johor convention last Saturday, July 23.

Pasir Gudang Amanah chief Syed Othman Syed Abdullah reportedly said they decided on July 23 itself not to accept the former assemblyperson due to negative feedback from the division leaders and members.

“Normally, the division that accepts the membership application from any individual who wishes to join Amanah will bring this matter to the state leadership to be approved.

“However, in Che Zakaria’s case, the opposite has happened. He handed his application to Johor Amanah himself and (the application) was then forwarded to us,” Syed Othman was reported as saying by Utusan Malaysia yesterday.

He added that they informed the state leadership about their decision on Sunday.

“It is now up to the Amanah state leadership to give the application to any other division that can accept Che Zakaria’s membership.

“I do not have any personal political issues with Che Zakaria, even though he has left Bersatu. In fact, we approached him to cooperate in the previous state polls but instead, he campaigned for Warisan.

“So, what is his real motive in wanting to join this party? Pasir Gudang Amanah has stated our stance clearly that we do not want him to be a part of us,” Syed Othman said.

Che Zakaria had said his decision to leave Bersatu for Amanah was not made under duress and that he carefully considered the matter for five months.

He had won the Permas seat in the 14th general election, defeating former Johor menteri besar Mohamed Khaled Nordin in a four-cornered contest. - Mkini
