The federal police today confirmed an ongoing investigation against PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang for linking non-Muslims and non-bumiputera to systemic corruption in the country.
Police corporate communications chief A Skandaguru in a statement said the probe was being conducted by the classified criminal investigation (D5) unit based on 28 police reports.
Hadi is being investigated under Section 505(C) of the Penal Code on statements conducive to public mischief and incitement, as well as Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 2008 for abuse of network services.
"Investigation is ongoing and PDRM advises the public to refrain from making any speculations or statements that can interfere with the process.
"PDRM also urges the public to be aware of issues that touch on religious or racial sensitivities and can invite unrest," said Skandaguru.
On Aug 20, Hadi took to Facebook and blamed Malays for being apathetic to voting, resulting in non-Malays and “liberals” gaining control of the country’s political power in the last general election.
The Marang MP also said that corruption stemmed from those who reaped profits through illegal means, alleging the majority of them were non-Muslims and non-bumiputera.
Among those who had lodged a police report against Hadi include the DAP, aside from NGOs urging authorities to take action. - Mkini
