PETALING JAYA: Concerts by international artistes will be permitted in three states run by PAS, as long as the stars do not lead a “deviant lifestyle”, says the PAS Youth leader.
Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said the party would not stop any concerts from being held in Kelantan, Terengganu or Kedah if it did not go against the local culture.
“If it involves artistes that are believed to promote a deviant lifestyle, then yes (PAS will object),” Fadhli told FMT.
Last Thursday, Fadhli had warned of national protests unless scheduled concerts featuring international artistes were cancelled, saying they encouraged hedonism and were incompatible with the values of Muslims.
On Aug 19, complaining about a concert by American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish the night before, he said these events would only invite the “wrath of Allah”.
Fadhli, who is Pasir Mas MP, then traded barbs with DAP Youth leader Dr Kelvin Yii, who had suggested that the Islamic party was bereft of ideas and was engaging in a form of moral policing.
But the PAS man denied the charge of moral policing, saying it was a matter of respecting Muslims, who were the majority in the country. - FMT
