Covid-19 (Aug 1): 3,213 new cases, 8 deaths

 


COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 3,213 new daily Covid-19 cases yesterday.

Active cases currently stood at 44,664, up 3.6 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Kuala Lumpur (1,006)
Selangor (865)
Sabah (241)
Perak (224)
Penang (171)
Negeri Sembilan (153)
Kedah (130)
Johor (114)
Malacca (90)
Putrajaya (59)
Sarawak (52)
Kelantan (42)
Pahang (34)
Terengganu (23)
Perlis (6)
Labuan (3)


Another eight deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which two were declared as "brought in dead".

Deaths were reported in Perak (3), Johor (2), Kedah (1), Negeri Sembilan (1) and Kuala Lumpur (1).

Over the past week, an average of 7.7 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 6.9, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the uptrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 35,977 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There are 1,510 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 54 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (102) followed by Johor (85) and Sabah (68). - Mkini
