Annuar: No pact between PM, Muhyiddin, just understanding

Communications and Multimedia Minister Annuar Musa today denied allegations that there was a special agreement between Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob and former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin including regarding the appointment of the attorney-general (AG).

Annuar (above) said, however, there was an understanding between the two regarding the formation of the cabinet and election matters, which he described as “perfectly normal”.

“What I can say is that there is an understanding, not agreement. Just an understanding between the outgoing PM and the incoming PM.

“It was only limited to the main issues, especially regarding the formation of the cabinet and election matters,” he said when asked by reporters about the purported agreement that he allegedly witnessed, after chairing a meeting for the Task Force on Jihad Against Inflation.

Former Umno supreme council member Lokman Noor Adam today claimed that there were several leaked agreements between Ismail Sabri and Muhyiddin, among which Lokman claimed Ismail Sabri has agreed not to replace the current AG.

“I notice there are speculations that even involve the appointment of the AG. I can confirm that it is not true,” Annuar added.

Meanwhile, special officer to the prime minister Kamarul Zaman Yusoff lodged a police report against Lokman, claiming that his allegations of a purported agreement between Ismail Sabri and Muhyiddin are defamatory.

The report was lodged at the Precinct 7 police station in Putrajaya and the case has been referred to the Sepang district police headquarters. The district’s police chief, ACP Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof, confirmed receiving the report.
