KUALA LUMPUR: The Parliamentary Services Bill is expected to be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat in November.
The next meeting of the Dewan Rakyat – the third of the fifth session of the 14th Parliament – will take place from Oct 3 to Nov 29.
Dewan Negara president Rais Yatim said a special meeting on parliamentary transformation was held at the main parliament building yesterday.
“In the meeting, it was informed that the parliamentary transformation process is running smoothly,” he said in a statement.
“The Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) and the legal affairs division of the Prime Minister’s Department are preparing the draft of the Parliamentary Services Bill, which is monitored by the Parliamentary Transformation Committee from time to time.
“The Parliamentary Services Bill prepared includes amendments to the Houses of Parliament (Privileges and Powers) Act 1952 and the Code of Ethics for Members of Parliament.”
Present at the meeting were law minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, legal affairs division director-general Abd Syukor Mahmood, their officers and representatives from the AGC. - FMT
