KLANG: Pakatan Harapan’s candidate for the Klang parliamentary seat V Ganabatirau launched his campaign last night by pledging to resolve the flood issue that plagues the constituency.

Despite the drizzle, a crowd of about 100 gathered at the basketball court at Taman Eng Ann to listen to him speak about the changes he wanted to make if elected as the next Klang MP.

“I know Klangites’ biggest fear is the floods and it is justified. We are prone to more of them now,” he said.

He recounted the times he used to warn the irrigation and drainage department about potential floods and would ask them about their flood mitigation plans.

The Kota Kemuning assemblyman added that if Taman Eng Ann had drainage issues it was important to work with council members, assemblymen and MPs to solve the problem.

“That’s how we will work (if elected). If we can’t solve basic issues, what’s the point of being an MP or assemblyman?” he said, as the crowd erupted into cheers.

“These are the issues I will raise in Parliament.”

Ganabatirau replaces three-term Klang MP Charles Santiago.

The two-term Selangor executive councillor encouraged voters to go out to the polls on Nov 19 and vote for a party that would highlight the plight of the people.

“We don’t want (a government making) empty promises. We need huge allocations and concrete plans to solve these issues,” he said.
