Increased rate for RMT cooked food to come into force from Nov 6, says Radzi

 

PETALING JAYA: The increased rate for cooked food under the Supplementary Food Plan (RMT) from RM2.50 to RM3.50 for Peninsular Malaysia, and RM3 to RM4 for Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan, will come into effect on Nov 6.

Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin (pic) said this raise in allocation will benefit 791,477 students throughout the country.

“The implementation of this new rate will certainly provide relief to school canteen operators who provide RMT,” he said in a Facebook post today (Nov 3).

“This is one of my commitments to ensure that the quality of RMT food for students in need is maintained,” he added.

On Oct 7, Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz when tabling the Supply Bill 2023 announced thatthe Education Ministry would continue to receive the largest allocation of RM55.6bil in 2023 compared to RM52.6bil this year.

Part of this allocation includes increasing the allocation for the RMT.  - Star
