PETALING JAYA: Gerakan Tanah Air’s candidate for the Kuala Selangor seat has promised an incentive of RM500 to couples getting hitched for the first time, and RM200 for women giving birth to their first child.
Shaid Rosli, who is also the Jeram assemblyman, said these incentives were to help reduce the financial burdens of newlyweds and new mothers.
According to Utusan Malaysia, he said he had 10 pledges for the constituency that he will implement if he were elected the next Kuala Selangor MP.
This includes RM500 in cash aid for youths pursuing tertiary education. Shaid also promised RM300 in annual aid for disabled persons who do receive other assistance from the relevant agencies.
“A one-off cash aid of RM500 will also be provided to individuals who perform the umrah,” he said.
He also pledged to set up better sports facilities in the constituency, help small entrepreneurs digitise their small businesses, and turn Kuala Selangor into an agriculture hub.
He maintained that he would serve all constituents equally, regardless of religion, race or political leaning.
Shaid is in a four-cornered contest for the Kuala Selangor seat, which includes heavyweights like outgoing finance minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz (Barisan Nasional) and former health minister Dzulkefly Ahmad (Pakatan Harapan). Perikatan Nasional’s Noor Mohd Shahar is also contesting for the seat. - FMT
