JOHOR BARU, Oct 6 — Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Ibrahim tonight denied that he issued a statement titled "Umno is full of garbage" that is currently making its rounds on social media.

Tunku Ismail, popularly known by his Malay initials TMJ, said that the statement was false and he never issued it.

"This is a false statement that has been continuously spread by irresponsible parties on various social media platforms.

"The Royal Press Office (RPO) has previously made a police report regarding this false statement,” he said in a brief post on his official Facebook account tonight.

Tunku Ismail also explained that all statements or news reports related to him or the Johor Royal Family will only be issued by RPO or on Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar’s official social media pages.

In Malaysia, convention dictates that the state Rulers and their respective royal families are to refrain from being involved in the country’s political affairs.

To do so, will go against the role of the Malay rulers under a constitutional monarchy and also undermines the fundamental spirit of democracy.

Tunku Ismail has in the past indicated his inclination towards Barisan Nasional and its component Umno. - malaymail
