2 varsity students drown in river after outing with friends

PETALING JAYA: Two students from Universiti Kuala Lumpur drowned while bathing at Sungai Chiling, Kuala Kubu Bharu today.

In a statement, Selangor fire and rescue department director Norazam Khamis said they received a call around 12pm regarding the incident.

“When we arrived at the scene, we found that the first drowning victim had already been pulled out of the water by others in the area. Our rescue personnel found the second victim around 12.45pm,” Norazam said.

The victims, Shaik Rahim Khan Salauddin and Arief Haiqal Azhan, both aged 21, were at the river with five other friends from the same university.

The bodies have been surrendered to the police for further investigation. - FMT
