KUALA LUMPUR: PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli said the party will make a collective decision on whether to attend the Umno general assembly next month if invited.
PKR and Umno, which were previously political rivals, are now part of Anwar Ibrahim’s unity government, with Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as the deputy prime minister.
“If we are invited, it will be brought up to PKR’s political bureau, which will decide on the matter.
“So we will wait to see if we are officially invited,” Rafizi told reporters this evening when asked if the party had been invited.
Umno will hold its general assembly from Jan 11 to 14.
Rafizi said he had yet to receive any invitation but added that, generally, the party’s secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail would deal with such matters.
On a separate matter, Rafizi brushed off criticism by Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan, saying he was unfazed by the brickbats.
Wan Saiful had recently labelled Rafizi incompetent and that he should be replaced as the economic affairs minister.
“The rakyat will be the judge of my performance. I have no interest in responding to the likes of Wan Saiful.
“I will pay more attention to what the people of Pandan are saying about me than to Wan Saiful’s comments,” the Pandan MP said. - FMT
