PETALING JAYA: Kee Kok Thiam, a former aide to fugitive financier Low Taek Jho, or Jho Low, died of a sudden stroke.

Kee’s lawyers said he died in a hospital on Monday.

“We urge all parties not to entertain any speculation on this unfortunate event and allow the family the space to grieve over his passing,” Valen, Oh & Partners said in a statement today.

Last night, it was reported that Kee, who had reportedly told Malaysian authorities of Low’s whereabouts in Macau, had died from a sudden illness.

An MACC source confirmed with Malay Mail Online that Kee, who had returned to Malaysia on May 3 after five years abroad, had died.

The 56-year-old had previously confirmed meeting Low – the central figure in the 1MDB controversy – and other fugitives linked to the scandal in Macau. - FMT
