Transport Minister Anthony Loke has not received any report of a commotion allegedly caused by a minister at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 yesterday.
However, he believed the airport authorities would conduct a detailed investigation into the incident.
“I have not received any reports regarding the incident. I think the airport authorities will conduct a more detailed investigation into what transpired.
“Of course, safety protocols must be obeyed but whatever it is, we will leave it to the airport authorities as I believe they will make a detailed investigation,” he told reporters at KLIA Terminal 2 today.
Yesterday, BebasNews reported the commotion where a minister had purportedly barged into the international arrivals hall to defend a Chinese national barred from entering Malaysia.
The Chinese national was allegedly detained at KLIA since June 28 after arriving in the country.
BebasNews, quoting a source, reported that the minister learned about the incident and entered the KLIA arrivals hall without first applying for a pass.
“When stopped, he used his minister's authority and got angry with the KLIA auxiliary police and immigration officers for wanting to stop the Chinese national who was detained upon arrival on Wednesday,” the source was quoted as saying.
Malaysiakini has contacted the minister’s office for comment.
Meanwhile, the Immigration Department declined to comment on the matter when contacted. - Mkini
